I have a question regarding your Tape Head treatment. Is this product suitable for cassette decks as well? I’d be interested in using it on my 1991 Sony TC-K970ES.
Thank you, M.P.
LAST Tape Head Treatment is certainly suitable for use on cassette decks. The only caveat is that the heads have to be accessible in either rest mode or in play mode. A few machines retract the heads so that they are not accessible.Take a quick look at our website and click on product instructions to get an overview of the treatment process.
Wishing you much success with your project.
Best regards, Walter
UPDATE from Jeff: Note that cassette tapes run more slowly than most reel-to-reel tapes and also there is a felt pad which forces tape contact with the tape head, so there is less need for the Tape Head Treatment. However, you can still benefit from treating your tapes with Tape Preservative, and we now have a little gizmo to make that easier. Check out our Cassette Hero which you can either print for yourself on your 3D printer, or buy one from us. There’s a video on that page showing how it works.
