I need to fix some warped vinyl records, using a product called a Vinyl Flat and Groovy Pouch. It heats the record at 130 degrees or so for a certain amount of time to aid in this. Would applying heat affect the Record Preservative that was previously applied to the record? Also, does wet cleaning after application have any affect? Thanks, T.
Heating the record to 130 degrees F. will not effect the performance of previously applied Record Preservative. Nor will wet cleaning. The Preservation treatment is absorbed into the vinyl and remains there as a stable component.
Thank you for asking, Walter Davies
Editor’s note: We do not recommend or critique this de-warping product. We have never used or tested it, and have no opinion on its effectiveness. We only discuss it in terms of the heat and its effect on the LAST Record Preservative.
